On March 6, 2018, the World Bank Office of Suspension and Debarment (OSD)\u00a0 announced that it has recently published its 10-Year Update on Case Data & Metrics in a new report,\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Called the\u00a0Suspension and Debarment:\u00a010-Year Update on Case Data & Metrics 2007-2017: Addendum to the Second Edition\u00a0 (World Bank Office of Suspension and Debarment),\u00a0 it contains information related to the OSD’s sanctions system.<\/p>\n

The Addendum contains\u00a0 a series of charts and provides a glimpse into the\u00a0OSD\u00a0case review process from a number of angles, and\u00a0also\u00a0provides information about the performance of the World\u00a0Bank\u2019s suspension\u00a0and debarment system in general.\u00a0 The case\u00a0tracking data shown\u00a0reveals\u00a0no detail about individual cases beyond generic identifiers such\u00a0as case numbers and milestone dates.<\/p>\n

OSD provides the first level of adjudication in the World Bank\u2019s suspension and debarment, or \u201csanctions,\u201d system. \u00a0Since 2007, more than 60% of sanctions cases have been resolved on the basis of OSD\u2019s determinations and recommendations.\u00a0 All appealed cases are decided by the World Bank Group Sanctions Board.<\/p>\n

OSD works to ensure that the World Bank has an efficient, effective and fair sanctions process.\u00a0 This 10-Year Update furthers the World Bank\u2019s commitment to transparency and accountability regarding its process for sanctioning firms and individuals accused of fraud and corruption in Bank-financed projects.\u00a0 A more detailed description of how the sanctions system operates and the role of OSD can be found in the second edition of OSD\u2019s Report on Functions, Data and Lessons Learned,<\/a> published in 2015.<\/p>\n

This report marks the second edition of OSD\u2019s Report on\u00a0Functions, Data and Lessons Learned. The first edition was\u00a0published in 2014 and included data and statistics covering\u00a0OSD\u2019s first six fiscal years of operations, through June 30,\u00a02013.<\/div>\n

The second edition updates these figures to include\u00a0the next two fiscal years, through June 30, 2015, and\u00a0includes other revisions necessary to reflect events that have\u00a0occurred since the first edition\u2019s publication. As with the first\u00a0edition, the data and statistics in the second edition pertain\u00a0only to sanctions cases arising from projects financed by\u00a0the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development\u00a0(IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA)\u00a0within the World Bank Group.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The 10-Year Update provides updated data and information on the following:<\/p>\n
